(22. October – 26. October 2018)
I arrived by plane at Haneda Airport in Tokyo. The flight was app. 11 hours long and I have traveled around 9400km. It was very exhausting because sleeping is quite hard.
I stayed in a hostel in Shibuya so the first thing I needed to visit was the famous and world biggest crossing. and especially at night the crossing looks even bigger. (pictures are at the media section)
Right next to the crossing I saw the one of the two statues of a sitting dog. called Hachiko. (I will put a link of the history behind that statue below)
Furthermore I have been walking to the Tokyo central station. I nearly got lost a few times in the underground mall. It is packed with stores from clothing to food and restaurants.
Because Tokyo is very crowded I soon needed something quiet and different, so I decided to stop at Ueno. Having made a stop at Takarazuka station at a Melonepan shop I arrived at the Ueno park. Even though the park is still in central Tokyo, it was very quiet and a good change to the busy life atmosphere I constantly felt in the rest of Tokyo.
Although I have been around quite a lot during my four days, I felt like I could just visit a tiny bit of Tokyo. Luckily I will come back when I fly back home to see sights like the Tokyo Tower or the Skytree and many more.
My Impressions from the stay in Tokyo are diverse. On the one hand Tokyo is just fascinating and overwhelming because of its size and all the people living there. On the other hand you feel that the city is overcrowded and I had hardly any contact with any people there. And furthermore it is hard to find fresh food, if you want to cook a meal for yourself.
